I know this is something that is discussed all the time but I was hoping for some advice specific to my boat and trailer.

I bought a new for me 2007 Ranger Reata 1850vs last year. It had Goodyear Marathon 225 75/15 on it, and I got a flat last night. Apparently it was an original tire.

Reputable tire place in the area is suggesting either Carlisle Radial Trail HD or Good Year Endurance ST. Both are E load rated. Goodyear is about 30 more per tire but they are made in America.

Any opinions or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks - Andy

I put new Carlise tires on two years ago after swearing never again I would make sure of the manufactured date either way
If I was positive the Goodyear’s were made in USA I would pay the extra & buy them

Same setup as you to a T. Replaced original tires this year as well with Goodyear Endurance. Went back and forth researching and settled on Maxxis 8008’s. Went to Discout Tirw and told them what I wanted with the price and they said they could order them or I could have Goodyears for the exact same price. Took the deal and couldn’t be happier. Save myself quite a bit on the 3 tires. Might be with a shot to get a deal. Good luck

The camper guys would tell you the same thing I will tell you. Keep your tires properly inflated, upgrade the size if you can, no more than 5 years from the date stamp, and Endurance are the best out there.

I can tell you from experience this year that a "new looking" Good Year Endurance doesn't mean it's new. Mine apparently sat on a rack somewhere for a long time. They said my tire was 8 years old and wouldn't warranty it, nor at that point would I expect them to. My biggest advice is really to know how old your tire is or this may happen to your "new" tire. By the way I did update my tires with Carlisle Radialtrail's which I've had before from Blain which is a Wisconsin owned company and right by my house and by a lot of the places I fish, for Good Year I had to go downtown Madison, which I really didn't want to do with my trailer.

Goodyear. Period. I'll never run Carlise again. They came as original equipment but ended up original pain in the a$s. Nothing but problems the second year I ran them.

I am going on my third year with my Goodyear Endurance tires on my boat trailer, and I have no complaints. The still have lots of tread, no issues etc. I have no experience with Carlisle.

A couple years ago when my boat and motor were new it came with Carlisle hd tires 5 of them. I killed all 5 by 22k miles was running on borrowed time Since 17k.

Put endurance on after them got a safe 22k and borrowed time till 26k.

Put another 4 endurance on and - recently I spent 200$ on new suspension parts and have about 25k and still going healthy with 50% tread life

So what's better a new trailer or a trailer with new shackles and equalizer? I'd say the new trailer should be best. But hard to tell with the life I am getting out of endurance tires.

I'm pretty sure they didn't make Good Year Endurance 8 yrs ago? I believe they came out in 2017 so how could they tell you they were 8 yrs old?? I've had good luck with the Endurance I have on my Ranger trailer.

He is probably talking of Goodyear marathons that we made in China. Marathons used to be good prior to sending them to China. Goodyear understands that consumer confidence plummeted with China made Tires. So they brought manufacturing back with a new tire to get away from the stigma.

Fishy sam you are correct. I went back and looked at a photo of my tire and it was in fact a Good Year Marathon. I stand corrected.
