Fairly new to the muskie game and recently got a boat and noticed that some guys run rod holders up past the steering console on their boats. Any reason to do that over having them mounted closer to the back end? I'm in MN so one rod per person is the limit and I don't think I'll be having more than 3 dudes in the boat at any time.

Location: Ludington, MI		A few things come to mind -- running suckers right behind you if you're on the casting deck, trolling alone and wanting everything on one side but spread out, also the ability to put your canvas up and troll. I specifically mounted triple trees right near the back of my driver's seat just to accommodate my canvas.
