They said buy a boat it will be fun. First thing happens right after I buy it Evers extends the stay at home another month. The next day it snows. What could possibly be the third thing that happens. Please feel free to comment on what would be my third bad thing to happen. We all know everything happens in threes. Can’t wait to put my big girl in the water.

Third thing is that when stay at home is lifted you hook her up and proudly hit the road smiling to everyone and waving feeling like you're on top of the world. Then you run over a little gravel on the road, some small dirt clods, or some other debris not thinking much about it. Get to the boat launch and realize you have some dings, chipped paint, or clear coat damage. Get a gravel guard that spans the rear bumper if you haven't already. If you're a big spender get the gravel guard that spans the front of the boat that mounts on the front of the boat trailer.

I am not sure where you are located but there are plenty of places you can launch.

Don't get in a hurry. Take your time in being careful in remembering to do all the things that seem very simple.

Saw this happen in person to a brand new boat at the launch. Guy's old boat was a bunk trailer new boat is a roller trailer. Unhooks everything at the top of the inclined boat launch backs down a little bit and boom! Entire boat slammed onto the launch pad. Of course it was a crowded warm day at the launch and once the cheers and the "Bravo's" subsided the poor guy stepped out of his shiny yellow Jeep to survey the damage and console his son that was outside admiring his dad and their new rig backing down the ramp. Really felt bad for that kid. Looked like he was gonna cry. Dad was already crying.

I chuckled at the move to Arizona scenario... although there are some good places to fish there too... Just a little distance to travel depending on your location.

How bout this...

You go get ready to hit the lake for the fist time with the boat.. Hop in your tow vehicle...won't start. Find out, you have an electrical/programming issue with the engine's computer, and the mechanic can't get you in until the following week.

Maybe the third thing will be like a story I read where a fishing guide talked about his most embarrassing moments. He got a new boat and while he had it out a couple times, had it only a short time before taking out his first client. Went to launch it and wouldn't come off the trailer. After fussing and fuming he realized he had forgot to remove the straps that attached the transom hooks to the trailer. Had to remove it from the lake, remove the straps and start the process all over while the amused client looked on. Nothing really hurt but his pride.

Thank you VMS for chuckling about Arizona as my posts are mostly to make someone laugh so glad one person got a laugh today. I think we all need it. As an aside, Bluewater lake is quite a hike Lol

I love this video. Especially when owner dude is running along side his rig trying to stop it, (yeah right) while his butt seat is flapping along like the fake shark in Jaws. Or, Jaws II. Or, Jaws III. That's one great launch video right there folks.

After you launch you find out they rigged the hydraulic steering backwards. Left is right and right is left. True story of a coworker and his brand new tracker bass boat. Said it was difficult getting it back on the trailer...who checks the steering before you launch?

No need for a Red Bull when it’s a head on at 70mph plenty of inertia

When I was a kid my dad had a 32 ft. Carver. We had to take it out for a high water event. I drove it onto the trailer winched it up, attached safety chain. About half way up the ramp, as I'm still on the fly bridge, winch strap snaps. Boat goes rolling down trailer. Luckily safety chain held.

To this day I wonder what the heck I would've done seeing as how I was about 20 ft off the ground.

I remembered the plug the first time I launched the new boat. Back tie downs, however, were another story. Luckily, my wife and neighbor were the only ones watching !!

So took the boat out for the first voyage last week. So the guy I bought it from plugged the livewell drain at the hull. So me being brilliant pulled the plug so I could use the livewell. Well after a half hour of fishing the whole bottom of the boat was full of water. Luckily I had the plug with me and put it back in. Turned the bilge on and pumped water for 20 minutes. After removing the rear casting deck and livewell. I found the main drain hose came disconnected. All good now but just goes to show things can always get worse.

Just bought a 16ft sylvan with a 45hp Honda 4 stroke on it as a river/small water boat and took it out for the first time this weekend. Boat appeared to be in super nice shape so I had pretty high expectations. Well a couple minutes into the trip on the mississippi I noticed that it was peeing super weak, only dribbling at times. The previous owner had just had it at a mechanic and had everything checked and some stuff replaced, and claimed that the motor always had a weak stream unless you were on plain, but I’m still concerned about it. Other great thing I noticed is that if you step on the floor above the gas tank just wrong it will squirt gas out of the gas tanks aeration port on the side of the boat. Needless to say this thing will need a little work, but I can’t complain for the 3k I paid for it. At least the interior is in good shape haha.

My understanding is the water coming out the side of the motor is really just there to tell you the the pump is working the majority of the water comes out the exhaust. As for the gas when you step on the floor maybe that is a extra primer bulb ??

I’m really not too worried about the lack of water as it’s only a 45 horse and there easily could just be some weeds in the intake. I have no idea about the gas though, my buddy and I are going to take to floor panel off tomorrow and do some digging, hopefully we can solve it. Just got a new motorguide xi5 for it today, never owned a motorguide myself but I’ve always really liked the ones I’ve used on friends boats. Worst case I can always sell it and get a terrova instead.
