These days I almost exclusively troll and sometimes I've had some shoulder and neck pain from the constant back and forth between boats electronics, and kicker motor shift control.

Even before I had the pain issues, the kicker shift control location always felt really awkward to me, especially for something that I was using all day. So last year I decided to go ahead and make the switch, and other than having different size holes, and then having to splice in a piece of fabric, it was a fairly straightforward project.

A nice plus while trolling is being able to move my seat forward to easily reach to the boats electronics, now the shift control, steering wheel, and electronics are all in a nice little easy to reach triangle... my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner.

It would look the same except they would have their positions switched.

I was kind of nervous that the seam in the fabric would be noticeable, but once the epoxy dried it’s hardly noticeable up close.

Last year I also changed out the seats with some super cushy captains chairs that recline and have armrests. That was another move I should have made sooner because when I'm trolling I can now rest my forearm on the armrest, with my hand on the control. Being able to recline and rest in an easy chair is also a nice perk, the older I get the more important this kind of stuff becomes.
