| well hard to pick just one, if forced ..I too would go with double 10's, they are just wicked nighttime producers ... my favorite way is slow topwatar though when conditions are right ....have a particular old beatup creeper, that usually gets them goin. Good luck |

| Depends. If I'm still searching for a fish, double blade bucktail. If I'm working on a fish a black hawg wobbler. There is something about that slight clicking sound of that bait at night. Heavy weed growth, I would throw a big double bladed thumping spinnerbait with a two single hook set-up. Kdawg |

| I like super models at night, black skirt with either both black blades or a combo of black and orange or black and chartreuse. The colorful blades make them a little easier to see when making 8s when they get close to the boat.
If I get to pick a couple, I would go with a prop bait worked slow so the tail is just barely plopping along. Fat Bastard or cannon ball jr would be tops on my list.
Trolling I’d use a 12” headlock. My favorite is a chartreuse shiner. White back, white and silver glitter sides, chartreuse belly. |

| I noticed that a majority chose black lures. Is the idea that this shows up better at night against the dark sky? Second question is, I live on chain with water that is very stained with tannin. Is black still the choice in dark stained water?
Appreciate the information in this thread. I have had most of my luck at night with top water but that is because I typically throw top water after the sun goes down. |

I don't know if color matters that much, but I have caught many fish on black after dark so I'll continue to use it. I personally think that the black silhouette theory is kind of bogus. My theory is that they have a harder time seeing it, therefore they don't know it's fake and decide to eat it. They sure can feel it though. |

Location: MN | I've caught after dark and had pretty good action on black/black, black/nickel, and purple/gold as well, but I prefer chartreuse because the lure is easier to see coming in. Most of that fishing is on clear water. |

| I've had good success with a black pounder bulldawg behind a #8 dozer blade. (essentially a bulldawg bucktail) Lots of water displacement with the size of the rubber, the tail and the blade. Cowgirls and big rubber by themselves work too but I figured I may as well combine them.

Location: Contrarian Island | not sure color matters a whole lot at night. lots of 50"+ fish in my boat at night with bright lures, and dark lures. In general I tend to throw bright lures on a "bright" night and dark on dark nights.... |

I typically troll big crank baits at night. I don't usually cast those types of baits. But yes, I like to use darker baits on dark nights trolling and casting.
I'm a caster at heart. But I've had some big fish in the boat trolling at night. |
