Location: Milwaukee, WI | So I’m hoping Canada is open by the end of June to go to LOTW. Just in case, what is a good musky option? Leech? Any others. Maybe would do some smallmouth as well. Lodging recommendations welcomed. Dad is coming from Texas so I need a second option. |

| Leech,Cass, Vermilion are the 1st three that come to mind. I would start looking for a place to stay though that could be hard to find. Call Steve at Spring Bay if you are thinking about Vermilion |

| Rainy Lake on the American side? Some musky and great smallmouth and walleye fishing. |

| All of Wisconsin. We will be closing our state to tourism soon enough. |

Location: Vilas | check out Many Points Lake in Mn.... Gillespie and Maina did an episode there last year... very successful and there are some big fish swimming around out there.....not as much fishing pressure either |

| I think it may be premature to close Mn to tourists for the summer months The opener is still about 50 days away. Things may change by then and I mean for the better. I hope they do. |

| I'm guessing the border will re-open well before then, but there's no shortage of muskie options in MN. Are you looking for a border-canadian shield experience?
Vermillion, Leech, and Mille Lacs probably offer the best muskie-smallmouth combo fishing in MN. St Croix River could be good, but current flow could be a big issue if we have a wet month. |

| From the other thread you've posted, it sounds like you're looking at Vermilion. Late June one might do better fishing a smaller lake that has warmed up more.
The Little Boy/Wabedo chain is an option in the Longville area. The lakes also have smallmouth bass in them and if the wind is light, Leech is just to the north if you want to fish big water.

| Don't get to excited just yet. Long time before the virus thing is done and even longer after that for things to get back to normal. |

Location: Walker, MN | It looks like MN resorts are going to be open. Leech Lake has great muskies and multi-species. Smaller lake options like Cass, Bemidji, Longeville Lakes are all within a 40 minute drive of Walker/Leech too. |

Location: Ames, Iowa | I would go to Vermillion. Prettier than Mille Lacs and Leech and a lot more smallie opportunity than Leech/Longville lakes. |

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota | Another vote for vermilion. Gives you the best chance at a true giant in my opinion and is one of the prettiest lakes to fish on in the state. The smallmouth fishing can be incredible, and if you are on the west end there is some of the best largemouth fishing I have seen in the state. In the last 3 years I have seen multiple 7lbs largemouth caught on the west end which is incredible with how far north it is. There are big smallmouth there too, as well as astounding numbers of fish. Not uncommon for me to get 30-40 fish off of one good sized island in late June/ early July. Find an island with small to mid sized rocks dropping off into deep water and you will catch as many smallies as you will want, once the heat of summer comes the reef bite can be awesome as well. I spend 6-10 weekends a year on vermilion, if you want any info on where to go shoot me a message. |
