How you all doing?  I just recieved a new hang ten manta today and plan on using it tomorrow. I was wondering how you guy's like working them. I am still fishing 58 degree water. What type of retrieve would you recommend? Also, should I just use a snap and attach it directly to the eye on the bait or should I use a split ring for better action? Any other tip's will be much appreciated. Thank you for your help. I'll let you know if I catch a 50.

Hey Rivermusky, I was throwing a hang 10 for the last few weeks and I work em just like I work the 8 inchers, fast or slow. I have been fishing them with a snap but I suppose I could try a split ring to see if there is a difference. Most of the time I work the bait slowly with a good pause in between. Best of luck,
Dave

Chris,

The best way to work these lures is with a short stiff rod. I know most lures now can be easily worked with longer rods, but this is a lure that will really come to life with a shorter rod.

Long pulls straight down seem to really give this lure some great action.
With the rod tip pointing straight at the lure, use long pull down towards the water. Pull the rod straight down for the best action. Long sweeping pulls seem to be great with a quick twitch thrown in here and there.

Hope this helps,

I use slow pulls with lots of hang time in between, then a couple of quick jerks. I've heard that if you bend the eye down a little it will stay down better, of course I've never caught anything on it yet, but it looks great in the water.

I'll be throwingit tomorrow...

Man, that thing has a mind of it's own. LOL  I couldn't keep it from going to the right all of the time. Then when I did get it going somewhat, my leader kept getting hung up in the hook's. I think when I jerked it, my leader was falling down and it would glide right over top of it and get hung up. This thing is going to take some practice. I believe it is still a little to warm down here. Green was still 58 degree's. I was trying to work it to fast or something. I am going to need some extra tip's and techniques on this hunk of plastic. 6oz's  WOW!!!!  It has to catch fish though. I love the hang-time.

Thank's for your help. Please keep it coming. LOL!
