I was wondering how the Muskie fishing is on shelbyville this November. I also would like to find a wrapup of the Muskie tournament held on Nov. 8 & 9.November is usually a very good month to fish this lake.I usually throw 3/4 or 1oz. spinnerbaits. Any reports would be Great ! Thanks.

On Thursday (19th)Shelbyville was extremely muddy(no visability). We could not find any semi-clear water so we left after 2+ hours. All Central IL. were like Chocolate Milk due to heavy rains the previous 2 or 3 days.water temps were in mid 50's(air temps=almost70). We headed to Newton lake(power plant lake), where water temps were in mid 60's and water was muddy also. I might head down again on Thanksgiving weekend for 2 days if temperatures are reasonable.

Shelbyville has had its ups and downs for us this year. Overall I've been surprised that we have done as well as we have. It's really our first year of seriously fishing Shelbyville and already she has shared her wealth with us. As mmusky1 said the fish have been in the backs of coves. Basscaster too is dead on that the visibility is crud or should I say mud. We were out last weekend and raised one fish on a Shallow Invader off a bare bank cove just outside of Buoy. Couldn't tell if it actually tried to hit the bait or not, just swooshed at the side of the boat then followed one full figure 8 and was gone. Went out yesterday and did even worse. We didn't see anything. The wind was strong and the water was dirty, still. Lots, too many, boats in Lithia. Might be headed back there this weekend but if we don't produce something, that might be it for the season. What should we do? We threw bright colored baits, natural baits, baits with rattles, baits without, spinnerbaits, the works. What should we be doing different? Thanks!

esox50-
What about some gliders. Pop - pop - pop & then let them hang for a second. Try that ... it's about the only that works on Evergreen when the water get's into the 40's.

Good Luck ...

Where does Shelbyville stand? Anyone still fishing it?

Heading down in Mid-April, just wondering if any diehards are still fishing? Does she actually freeze over? Is Kincaid and the Cave the only mid-winter waters?

Sure are! We have a few members who fish the spillway and river below
all winter (as long as there is enough current to keep it ice free which
is almost 100% of the time).

Hopefully we should have a couple trips under our belt by then. I'm
hoping to see open water in early March!

Does she actually freeze over?

This year she did. Almost completeley from what I saw when I drove over the Findlay bridge going to the last club meeting at Eagle Creek Resort.

Is Kincaid and the Cave the only mid-winter waters?

During mild winters Shelbyville will stay open year-round. Not the occasion this year though...
