My 11 year old son (soon to be 12) has asked if we could fish a tournament together next year (I think I was more excited by the question than him). Anyways, I am looking for a one day tournament somewhere in WI, that I can take him to between June and August. I looked at the WMT's but an unsure that I want to spend the $300 to enter.

Anybody have any thoughts?

Dave-
I don't know about Wisconsin ..but you might want to look into what the IMTT offers. Well run & cheap to enter.

Thad,

Good point, I forgot about the IMTT. I will look into that as well.

you may want to look at some of the local muskies inc events like the Pewaukee Muskie Classic etc........usually minimal cost and the money goes to a good cause...........

Habeeb,

Shimano & The Minocqua Chamber of Commerce run a tournament over Fathers Day weekend. Kind of fun, I have fished it with my son in law. For the youngsters there is a lot of giveaway stuff. NO ENTRY FEE! They have hourly updates that they announce over the local radio station. Plus they give away a free boat and motor to one of the participants.

Habeeb,

The North Metro Chapter of MI runs the June Jam tournament on several Lakes in the Polk County area (Deer, Bone, Blake, Apple River, and a couple others) in June. It is actually a 2 day tournament, but only costs $40/person.

Thanks for the info guys. Mike, you might have come up with the big winner, although there is a cost in 2004 ($20 adults $10 kids under 17). My only problem is we are getting back from Disney on the 17th and the Fishing Fun Fest begins on the 18th. My guess is if I take both kids the wife will be willing to let us go.

Mike. 2 years ago, my soon to be father in law and his partner, won the boat at the minoqua fathers day fishing gig. Pretty cool.
Good lungen,
