| I'm I'm the market for brand new Tranx 400 and usually buy from Amazon. The last time, however, I ordered two 60 Beast T2 reels when they were on sale. One of the reels was visibly used so I exchanged it. Unfortunately, both reels had used internal parts and I didn't find out till it was to late to return them. I should have known something was up when the boxes weren't sealed and the little bottles of oil were missing. Anyways, as a result of my horrible experience, I'd like to find a better retailer for high end muskie equipment instead of using Amazon and taking a chance at getting someone else's used junk. What are the best online retailers to purchase muskie reels? |

Location: Northern Illinois | Timing a 20% sale at Rollie and Helen's is a good way. I've also bought several off eBay with good results. An added benefit of eBay is sometimes you can find a good deal on a used reel and shipping a reel is usually low cost. Just watch the sellers's reviews and descriptions, and use PayPal. |

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota | Can’t go wrong with tackle warehouse, always shipped quickly and have a great selection of reels. Don’t care much specific musky gear but they have all the reels you would want as well as a lot of swimbait rods that would make good musky setups. As others have said musky shop is another good option. You might end up paying full price at these websites but you know that your getting a brand new reel |

| Living in N. WI, I have bought from Rollie and Helen's. One of the advantages is that the sales guys all fish, they have used the equipment and they listen. When I was just getting back into musky fishing after buying a cabin in the Northwoods a little over 15 years ago, they were a great help in helping me get started. An example is the salesman showing me how two rods, both rated XH and rated for similar lure weights had quite different actions by carefully flexing them on the carpeted floor.
I have bought reels online as well but if the price is close, I will always go with the place where I can get advice, hold it in my hands before buying. |

| Thanks guys I went with The Musky Shop. I called before ordering to make sure they had the Tranx400ahg in stock, the person I spoke with said they had twelve so I placed my order online. To my surprise, I reciebed a phone call the next morning stating that it was out of stock, but when I called back they said it should be in by the end of they day and they'd ship it as soon as it came in. Later that day, I tecieved tracking conformation. I should get the reel tomorrow. Thanks again for the recommendations! |
