| Finished the season on the river and ready to winterize my boat. I have a heated pull shed with running water. Motor is a 2015 Mercury Pro XS 175 Optimax.
On a standard 2 stoke, you can fog the motor until it quits by spraying fogging oil into the intake. QUESTION: Can this also be done on an Optimax?? What are the pros and cons on doing so. I also plan to spray a little in the spark plug holes and turn the motor over.
Thanks in advance.

Location: Hayward, WI | No, do not fog an Optimax like a normal 2 stroke. Direct injected motors do not have gas that goes throught the crankcase to wash the fogging oil away. The link below has some info on putting oil direct in the spark plug hole.

| Thanks for the link. Should I also not put fogging oil in the cylinders? Looks like an ounce of oil. Thanks again |

Location: Hayward, WI | They recommoned just using your Mercury Optimax oil. Fogging oil can cause issues with the injector tips I guess. |
