| Does anyone have any experience with the new gen3? Is it worth the $1000 price increase compared to the gen2 units in the 12” screens on sale right now? Just looking for input before a buy new electronics. Thanks for any input! |

Location: Northern Illinois | Yes, I have all Gen 3 units on my new boat. You get a clearer image I'd say 20% or better image. I had Gen 2 on my last boat. |

| Here is a side question. I'm looking at getting a Helix unit to run Autochart live only, no DI or SI. Gen 3 is not necessary then? |

To answer your question, No it is not necessary you would be able to do that with a Gen-2 unit that is capable of auto-charting. |
