| Hello all,
I'm looking at planning a fly in shield trip and looking for suggestions. Were from South Dakota and plan to drive most of the way. Ive fished for most of my life and slowly converted to exclusively fishing for Muskie in the last 13 years and would like to find a remote camp with basic accomadations. I dont mind roughing it and have no need for a chef just want to catch some nice fish. PB is 49 if I beat that I would be thankful but a fat pike would work to. We prefer to cast but troll on occasion. Any help is appreciated. |

| Not too many fly in options for musky available. Rowan as mentioned is a great option with outposts and lodge settings available. Nestor Falls Fly In has 2 cabins on Kay lake. Lake trout lake with smallies. Has good reviews. I think there might be a few others but not many fly in musky options in NW Ontario. |

Location: Badger State | Several years ago my brother and I used Wilderness Air Outfitters for a fly-in adventure with four total people. My brother had used them several times in the past. We selected Confusion Lake which, at the time, was the furthest out that was available from the base. While muskies are there, they did not cooperate that week, with only 3 caught. That was balanced by catching nearly 360 northern pike during the week. Check out their web site for lakes served and fishing reports for each lake. Some don't have muskies as Wilderness Air serves a wide range of fishing preferences. I'm not endorsing them other than to provide you with a fly-in choice to check out as you asked for. These are truly private locations in remote areas. Here's their web site: https://www.wilderness-air-escapes.com/ |

| We've been long time guests, & would highly recommend Alexander's on Rowan Lake.

Great folks. Nice cabins, great equipment. Offer American & Housekeeping Plans. Pristine waters offering trophy muskie, pike, smallmouth, largemouth & lake trout.

| If you want numbers, my son and I went to Kishkutena lake through Youngs wilderness camp. Did a split week camp with half the time on LOTW and half on Kish. Muskies were very numerous but still muskies. I caught 22 in 3 days largest was 38 but my son only managed a few. Lure placement and figure eights still important. Just a basic fly in. other cabins on lake but only saw a couple boats and float planes. Good experience. |

| I use to fish Nielsons on Rowan when I was younger and healthier. Rowan has some really large muskies, a decent pike population, pretty good lake trout fishing, and lots of largemouth and walleyes. Smallmouth were uncommon but I've heard there is a good population now. A very pretty but challenging lake. Super heavy muskies for their size. |

| Rowan is a great suggestion. If you go to visitsunsetcountry.com and use some of the search functions you can search by muskie fishing and fly in access. Besides Rowans camps and outpost fly ins, there are several fly in american plan camps on the English River System. Delaney lake lodge, oak lake lodge, Maynard lake lodge to name a few. I've never fished any of them so I cannot attest to the muskie populations in that part of the system. But they are in there and my guess is you wouldn't have much competition fishing for them. |

I have positive personal experience with these folks for walleye lakes. Not sure how they are on muskie, you'll have to look at the offerings, I think Kag Lake has them? m |

| Thanks for all your input. It sounds like Rowan is a pretty good choice. I also heard from a friend about Kay lake ? Any thoughts on this one? |

| Fish Kay Lake 2 years ago as a day trip while at lake of the woods. Boated 9 muskie up to 41' had at least 30 more follows in a 7 hour trip We were with a guide who knew the lake so that helped. Not sure about size but should have lots of action. Outpost cabins are really nice. Nestor Falls Fly In is a top notch |

Been to Kay and will say it is a pretty good fishery. Tons of smallmouth, and lake trout fishing was awesome. It seemed the musky were most active right at dark, and most of the fish were 30-40" fish. I am sure there are some big ones, we just didn't see them during our week. |
