Location: oswego, il | What is the trick to doing it? 3 of us tried two weeks ago and only one of us were able only after 3 tries. It blocks you out of selections then the fishing license icon does not appear. Frustrating to have to find a place that sells them when you have to move around LSC when the winds change. I can buy a license online in Ontario, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin in a few minutes easy. Same issue last year could not complete a purchase online.

| I don't know what in thee heck the state of Michigan did...or had someone do...to redesign their web site for the purchasing of on-line Michigan fishing licenses but it has SUCKED for what I think is the past three (3) years?! I used to always buy my out-of-state Michigan fishing license, on-line, from the comforts of my computer, at home, in Indiana each season, but that quickly ended about three years ago when I noticed this new site for the on-line purchasing was a major P.I.T.A!! And the crazy thing about it...it wasn't trouble for just me, trying to buy an out-of-state license. Nope. Even my Michigan fishing/car/snowmobile buddies tried to buy their resident license, on-line, and it was a major P.I.T.A. for them as well.
So. I gave up trying to use their web site and the gizmo gadget fancy schmancy technology. It's all back to old-school: go to bait shop to buy the licenses for the past three years.
The state of Michigan needs to hire a new web company to completely toss their current site in the trash, wipe the slate clean and start all over from scratch. They've made it waaaaaaaaaaaay more complicated than it needs to be.
What once worked...no longer does.
Find a bait shop. Or heck...even a Walmart. Save yourself the headache.

| You know...and here's the thing: You'd think that they would have known about this issue a long time ago and resolved the issue by now. I hadn't even tried the on-line system at all this calendar year of 2019. I simply got mine from the same bait shop, this year, that I've gotten my license from in the past year or two. So this is the first that I'm hearing that there is STILL a problem. And back when I first experienced this issue...I just figured it was me...with user error. So...I just sucked it up and wrote it off that I wasn't doing something correctly. It wasn't until I was up in Michigan, standing next to my Michigan buddy, in his garage, as he was on-line trying to get his in-state, resident license and he was having a frustrating time as well. Then I realized, there was indeed an issue and that it wasn't just me. I'm surprised my buddy's laptop survived that day to be honest......whoa....'twasn't pretty....
For as much money as they charge us outta-staters to buy their License, they sure do make it extremely difficult to take our money. I've had to go out of my way to work even harder to give them my money...

I am a resident though so maybe just a problem with non-residents? Have you tried on a computer and not your phone?
Or maybe this?
Your Web Browser
eLicense requires a current web browser. Browsers that have been tested and are recommended are:
Desktop browsers
Chrome 59.0.3071
Firefox 54.0.1
Microsoft Internet Explorer 11.0
Safari 10.1.2
Mobile browsers
default browser for iOS 10.3.3
Chrome 59.0.3071 for Android
If you do not have one of these browsers, you might not be able to complete the process without first updating your software.

| Back when I tried, which last time I tried was back in 2018, (I’m an out-of-stater) I was on an actual computer (never use a phone for that type of internet related transaction anywhere at anytime)
Back when my Michigan friends (in-staters...residents) were trying to get their license on-line via the web site, they too were on a computer...again...not a phone. And they couldn’t get it to work either. So it’s definitely not just a problem for non-residents. It proved to be an issue with residents as well.
At the time that I was trying to get the on-line license, back then, I was using the most current Firefox at that given time. I’m currently on Firefox 69.x.x.x whatever but have not tried the Michigan site for an on-line license here in 2019.
Not sure what browsers my buddy’s laptop was on that day?
Two different computers, two different locations, most likely two different browsers...one non-resident, one resident....yet...the same net result.
Maybe once we flip the calendar over to 2020, I’ll give the on-line license another try. We’ll see what happens next Spring.

| I've been getting my Michigan license at a convenience store in Menomonee, and use a credit card. No issues. I get all of my other licenses (Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota)near my house, at Joe's Sporting Goods. I just wish I could get my Michigan license there too, then I would have one stop shopping. |

Yea, that sounds like something that would happen to me. I've thought about the lifetime license as well, but you still have to get it every year, just doesn't cost anything. The annual resident doesn't cost much, and since I get other non-resident licenses for other states, I just go in when the store isn't busy, and get them all at once and swipe the Cabela's card. Iowa and Wisconsin non-resident aren't bad for cost, but that darn Michigan one kind of bites. Some years, when I'm not sure if I'll be making multiple trips, I just get one for a few days. If they were a little less, I would just a season license every year. |
