Location: Belgium | to counterattack all those useless posts about "the worst lure ever" (we all have read these too often and they all, without any exceptions, end up in the bashing of some lure or lure manufacturer) I want to hear from you which lure(s) is your best ever. It can be because it has caught you several large fish or maybe it's a numbers bait. I want to read positive replies only or I will put Slam'r on your tail to hunt you down with the capital punishment being a whole week of row trolling on Cass Lake. Punishment to be executed within the next 4 weeks.
My personal best lures are:
- 6" swim whizz in bullfrog color. Has caught around 40 pike and it has been pierced twice now. The pattern is unrecognizable by now.
- divani zig zag glider. I hooked and lost a huge pike on it and I still have nightmares about loosing that fish. Even my shrink can't do anything for me, and that's saying something!
- supershadrap in a chrome perch pattern
- supershadrap in the shad pattern (has caught three large pike of close to and over 40" and only one small pike) |

For crankbaits, my confidence lure is also the 6" Swim Whizz or Believer. My favorite topwater lures are the Bucher Topraider and the no longer made Marathon Musky Hawk. But hands down, the Buchertail 500 has been my best producer day in and day out. |

I had this one lure ( the one that caught four 30 pounders in an hour ) that has caught some 10 to 20 fish over 30 lbs before it lost all it's hair and died of slow death. It is very common for me to land 10 fish on a weekend on one lure that is tuned just right. |

A close second would be a tie between Snodlow, or like flaptail surface bait, and a Violent Strike Spinnerbait. My Undertaker has proven to be a producer, my small Reef Hawg has always been a good lure, and the Mud Puppy imitations and improvements like the Tallywacker, Awaker, Top Raider, etc. , do well for me also. Chucky Duck is my favorite lure to not fish with, but show to everyone who comes over to the Hideout. |

Over the last couple years I've had a single Blackbird Topraider that has alone put over 50 fish in the boat. Imagine my shock as I watched it come apart on a cast an early autumn morning this year. |

I have a Burt that has won more than one tournament for me as well. Oh yes, I have an original Giant Jackpot, one of the first prototypes, this bait has been removed from service because of being such a good friend to me. |

Topwaters: Giant Jackpot and Topraider
Cranks: Weighted-to-suspend 7.5" Grandmas and Weighted-to-suspend 10" Jake
Jerks: Suicks, especially my one-in-a-thousand Thriller with the "totally killer death wobble on the rise".
MuskyE showed me how to trick out the cranks to suspend. He makes great baits, too, like my must-have white Rubberhairy Rlider. |

Since I started using Sugartales, by Berg Lures, I would have to say they are my best producer, especially for fish over 42", Also my biggest fish was caught on one last summer, 54", right after releasing a 47". Great bucktails, casts like a bullet, and have a unique flair to the hair.
Rad Dogs have actually caught more fish for me, but that's if you combine casting and trolling, which means they see a lot of time in the water.
Topwalkers and Suicks and Believers would round out my list. I could fish with just those 5 forever and be happy.

| The best all around lure I own is an 8 inch bobbie bait. Have caught fish on this bait in almost every water I have fished up to 40 pounds and it can be used casting or equally effective trolling. A nine inch suick would be a close second followed by derpth raiders. |

Trolling.
Hands down the Salmo Sinking 7" Whitefish in a GS or BS pattern I have caught more muskies on this lure than anyother! Change the split rings though. The ones they use are week.
Also like the Magnum Rapala and super shadrap.
Believers and Jakes round out the list.
Topwater:
Topraider and Super Jackpot!

They all have had there time and place, some for a cast, some for a day, some for a week, some for a season and some for many seasons.
I have found that many of my hot lures on Pewaukee got very dusty this year when I moved to Chippewa falls and visa versa. |

Location: Oconto Falls, WI | As much of a crankbait man I am, I have to say the Mepps Giant Killer in black and silver. This lure is a producer in every kind of water, especially the cisco based lakes! It's too bad I don't throw these as much as cranks because I get more fish in less amount of time with them. That may change next year though.
Topwater: good old black Hawg Wobbler
Fast gaining top lure: Magnum Bulldawg and Triple D

I have a black and orange topraider that has around 10 fish on it now...followed closely by Lee Tauchens Water Chopper, I have one of his first ones that was once black..it is now basically wood colored from all the paint being gone...around 6 ski's on that with too many hits to remember...next would be a Mepps Marabou, black/silver..around 5 ski's...

| My best lure ever is a orange burt. Its probably taken 30-40 muskies in the boat up to 42 pounds.
Best trolling lure is a shad colored Tuff SHad. Its taken several over 50" and probably over a 100 fish in the past 2 years. |

Location: Southern W.Va. | No problems on this , gotta be a 9"unweighted, red perch ( i think that's the color) Sledge,
the bait called " Mikie" . This lure has caught fish from Ohio to Ontario and all points in between. You can work it on the surface like a Jackpot and it catches fish, work it slow enough to keep it under the water with 18" jerks and it walks the dog with the best of them. I can work this bait down to about 4' and it catches fish, what more could you ask of a old friend?
