| I recently got a line counter reel for sucker fishing this fall that has a bait clicker. It’s a scheels line counter but they’re made by Okuma. So it’s very similar to the Okuma ColdWater Line Counter reel. I was wondering whether you engage or disengage the reel when you have a sucker on the line. I read something somewhere about tightening the brake knob, but there isn’t a brake knob on this reel. This is the first one I have had so I am unaware how it would work. Thanks for any help! | |

Location: MN | Disengaged, let the clicker provide the resistance. If sucker gets really excited, it should be able to pull a little line out. If line just pulls out without the sucker trying, use knob to add extra tension. | |
