I'm looking to buy a lower priced rod and reel that can serve as a trolling and sucker rod. I'm looking for a good rod and reel reccomendation for aorund $200 total. I've been looking at the Daiwa Sealine and Accudepth as well as the Okuma Convector for reels and was wondering which models people prefer as well as length and action of rod for a dual purpose rod. I don't get on the water a lot in the fall so I'm not looking to break the bank. Any advice is appreciated!

since couple of years ive been really well treated by okuma battlecat, not a fan of sucker fishing but imo that rod got all the required quality for a good hookset https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZ036XWkAAg
if by chance you live in canada you can get the cream of the cream from shimano which is called technium rod . it's for frazer river(bc) white sturgeon,we talk about fish over 7 feet long but a rod surprisingly thin and powerful for fish that big.the old model tekota got no real rival. but if you are on a budget sealine is very good too. lol edit it look like usa will finally been able to get the technium https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5uQX8n_H2I best rod on earth ,no joke. no cons minus stainless guide would be better but it's just me

We went to Florida to test them in September 2019 and they did not disappoint...
Wild trip and the biggest gator was a 12'6" monster and just under 800lb! He was not happy when we caught him. Took over 90 minutes to get him into the boat...
These rods are indestructible!

Ugly Stick Big Game 7’ rod. $69.00 most places. Available at Bass Pro. The one with the heavy duty tuna guides on it. It looks like overkill, but they’re not. Perfect flexibility even on 38” type fish. No worries about breaking in cold weather either.
It’s not the e Ugly stick Muskie rod.
I run Okuma 303 Cold Water Is reels. So far so good. Can be found for under a $100.

I've used Okuma Convector 20 size line counter reels for many years. they are solid... only thing with them is take the nut that holds the handle on and replace it with a good one from the hardware store and loctite it on

We were testing our rods. Move to Florida and after a gator kills your dogs, totals your car and takes an arm off of your grandmother you will hate them. They are like rats in Florida... So LOL you actually fish then? Bet you have killed a LOT of fish in your past so why the angry PETA comments? And to answer your question, we used all of the animal. I got over 200lb of meat out of them along with the hide, head, etc. Have a good day...

maybe you got a good rod. it don't convince me to use your rod at all since im a fisherman ,not a reptile killer.
