Location: Watertown MN | After 8 years of living in MN, only fishing about a total of 5 day in MN for muskies prior to this season I finally boated a MN fish. I have fished the metro lakes more this year with Treats, Hooks, and Josh, and have lost atleast 3 legitamate muskies. Last time on tonka with Josh, we were talking about me not boating one in MN, and that I was saving myself for a fifty. Treats and I were on Mill Lacs yesterday, and after several hours fishing and not moving a fish, we Treat's finally moved 2 on a Wabull, we began talking about me not boating a fish in MN, after second lap around the Island I finally moved a fish, third lap here she comes up on a bulldawg and swims right by and heads out deep, I walk the dawg around the back of the boat, and start figure 8 after few turns there she is, misses the baits, one more turn she eats the dawg, a very short battle and Treats has here in the net, I really didn't know how big she was, Treats called 50, photos and measure 50.25". Treat thanks for one heck a net job, not a long fight, but a fifty is fifty in the net. One heck of a first MN fish, and also my first 50. Treats also ended up sticking the fatest 34 I have ever seen, it had a gut like a largemouth. Top the night of with the pack kicking the Vikings. It don't get any better.

PS-I almost stayed home to work on the honeydo list.

| Mr. TroyZ...50+ from MN!!! woooo hoooo! congradulations on the monster. nothing better than getting a big fish on the fig 8. Is there a better fig 8 bait out there (than the bulldawg)?
Way to go, good "end of year" fish. i know you're not done, but a nice Nov fish! that's awesome dude. again, congradulastions on fooling her at boat side.
Magnum or regular size dawg? color?
sweet job Troy.

Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | I started to blush when I first started reading the topic header That was a great trip up to the big pond. Yesterday we had the biggest and smallest muskie in my boat this year. I hated netting that fish after about 4 seconds of fight, but there was only one hook in her and that came out the second she got in the net. Good job Troy for sticking with her and not giving up after she missed and took-off that first time around the 8.
That fish didn't look that big the first time we saw her. We were estimating mid 40's at best. When she got in the net I knew she had to be 50. That makes me wonder how big the fish I moved on the Wabull was, cuz she looked all of 48 when she was under my feet! Then the football fish that had a smallmouth body with a musky head! I swear that fish was 34" x 17-18" and fought harder then some 40's I've caught this year.
Troy, post those pics when you get them or drop them off and I'll get them out. |
