| The Michigan DNR has a "Master Anglers" program where you can submit your fish picture and receive a nifty "Master Angler" patch and certificate. Your info will also be loaded into the DNR database which can be viewed online (or they will send you hard copy). The muskie must be 42" or bigger. Go to the Michigan DNR site, then hit the fishing link to view and retrieve the application.
The patches are really nice, though the 2002 patch had a stinkin bluegill on it. (2001 was a muskie! I could have got it but didn't know about the program.) I'll not forget Crappie's comment to me along the lines of, "How big was the bluegill you caught to get that patch?" He was smiling, just teasing me. |

Location: Germantown & Land O Lakes WI | Mepps does the same thing here in Wisconsin. You need to catch a wide variety of species though. If Michigan gave out certs for just Musky over 42", I'd have at least 6! Where do I write to?? |

Location: Holly, MI | I think I converted a Bass angler today. We went out to Lake St Clair (Michigan)to cast the flats on the Detroit river for Smallmouth but I convinced him to just give me an hour of trolling in the lake first. Twenty minutes later he was holding a 48 incher. I don't know which was bigger, his smile or the fish. CPR didn't need to be mentioned, he releases 100% of his bass too. She swam away strong.
I have been bugging him to musky fish all summer because he has a great boat, now I think I have him where I want him. Now a couple of nice stocking stuffers for him and we got another musky nut on our hands.
I wonder if I can send in a pic for him and have the patch sent to his house. It would be a nice surprise in the mail. |

| Yo 52 - go to the DNR website and print off an application. The address is on the bottom of the page.
They'll ask you for the name of the body of water in which you caught your fish. Mine is a small lake I refer to as "Lake Y". I don't want the real name in the online database to be viewed by folks, so I wrote down "Lake Why". |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | ToddM, PLEASE buy that stuff in Rhinelander, and while you are at it, let's hit the water here. I'm not sure what this means, but I moved from New Mexico to Illinois, back to New Mexico, and so on until I graduated from Wauconda High in 1970. I spent much of my soph and Junior years in Los Alamos and Los Lunas. I moved here, actually Elcho (much to the local's distaste) in 1974, and never looked back. Am I a Flatlander or someone from the wild west? Does this mean I add pepper sauce to my wild strawberries? Am I even ALLOWED in Michigan?? |
