| There has been some debate on the correct method to do this, I have my way, but others have there way.
My way it set when the muskie is swimming away from me, that way I can drive the hooks into the corner of the mouth. Years ago when I used to set straight up. I got hooks in the hard upper roof of the mouth, but as soon as the muskie hit the surface he through the rig.
What do you think is the best way?
Why do you think it gives you a better hooking percentage?
Should you set once or twice?

| I read an article by Steve Herbeck. He said set once to break the rubber band, once to drive the hooks and once to keep 'em honest. I think that's overkill and only set twice myself. Although there have been a few times that I've set three times. I don't know why, just have a few times.
I either give 'em a little pressure to get them swimming away from me or move the boat then set at a 45 degree angle. On the set try to break your rod then yank harder on the second set especially if you're using mono and/or a fiberglass rod.
