As many of you know, latex gloves are good to wear this time of the year because they keep your hands warm while casting.

I believe I am allergic to latex gloves. This is a self diagnoses. I could also be allergic to the powder in the gloves. All I know is, when I wear latex gloves, my hands get chap and crack. It can be painful. This is the only time this happens to my hands.

Since I like to fish in cold weather, what alternate types of snug fitting gloves that would allow me to reel and cast are available?

Ask your doctor what other doctors that are allegic to Latex use. Or you could try neoprene gloves. I use them for duck hunting in the frezzing temps, and they work pretty good.

All of our hospitals are changing over to latex-free gloves due to the frequency of staff and patient allergies. They are quite common and shouldn't be hard to find at your local pharmacy or hospital supply house. I would think a search would show up a number of wholesalers for consumers. Funny, though, they don't seem to keep my hands very warm...I prefer changing gloves frequently and using handwarmers. Mark

Definately Nitrile that's all we use in our hospital, the other option is the vinyl food service gloves.

Add a rag wool glove over the top, and you have a great cold weather system to keep hands comfortable even in the wet.

Try the new gloves that Stanley [tool producers] sell at the Home Depot
they have a rubber palm and fingers over a stretchy cotton exterior.
They have a cotton back of the hand part , no good for driving the boat but they are fantastic for fishing with, lots of feel in the fingers and they cling to your hands like glue, 5.99 pair here in Canada and they stick like glue to the reel and rod when the rod or reel are wet.
Sounds like an Infomercial doesn't it?

Walmart also carries non-latex and non- powdered gloves should you want to keep you costs down.
