Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I am looking at 2 inches of snow here tonight, and nothing but 30's and 40's for the next week. We may see a few more days that hit near 50, but not too many, I bet. I can't stand the thought of putting the boat away, so I will stick it out until Pelican is iced over. How long do you keep your rig water ready in the fall? |

Location: Bagley,MN 56621 | not until both Wis and Minn are iced up. Living cose enough to the Minn border and their later season allows me to get in a few days after Wis closes, although if it's a repeat of last year...both will be done before thanksgiving.:( |

Location: Bemidji, MN- | I'm in Bemidji. Last year I tried to grind out a few days too many and wound up with an icicle on my nose. Based on the weather forecast, I pulled my boat last week and winterized and detailed it. I put it in my garage on Sunday. Monday we had 1"+ snow with more forecast every day this week. |

Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | Last year my last day was Nov 10th. I suspect that this year will be similar because I will want to chase some live bucktails from a tree a little bit. The rut will be on and my climber will be calling. |

Location: Mallard Island Lake Vermilion MN | Hi all.
Pulled my rig and sealed up the cabin Sunday.
Gets to cold out on the Island and a bit risky after this date most years to leave docks in and the water on much longer.
Don't want to get my Balck beauty stuck on the lift surrounded by ice and have to leave her out there ALL winter.
Always sad to split, but it makes coming back that much more fun.
From the looks of things around here, everyone had fun and did really well on the water this season.
Keep on rock'en!

| There are only 2 things that chase me off of the water.
Ice and Nov. 30th, the end of the season. Like Greg M said, I may be in MN for a little late season open water if they have it.
The snow here this morning was NOT a welcome sight. In all of my time up here musky fishing. I have only been able to fish Oneida Co. one time on November 30th. We caught 2 muskies that day. I doubt I will be able to do it this year. God bless and dress warm. |

| I will be on LOTW'S until or near Iceup. I have a week of Holidays from November 10 to the 17th on which I will be fishing for the big girls. We shall see what happens after that.

Location: Germantown & Land O Lakes WI | Northern Vilas last year, I was done by the first week in Nov on my lake and ice fishing the second week. This year...looks like we may be ok for a while yet, but I still say we may be ice fishing by Thanks Giving. Hopefully, we'll have open water until then.
I hang it up when I hear SLAMR's girl friend start singing.

Location: Rhinelander, WI | Though we only made the actual last day once Oneida Esox and I usually try at the very least, a last week of the season trip. Since we started this tradition in 1998 we have been able to get on the water the last week of the season every year. Last year I had to make the trip alone as John was deer hunting. Twice we had to go to Trout Lake because it was the only lake still open, but it was open. It is usually a fun time and surprisingly we actually move some fish. Like OE said we once each caught a fish on the last day and the biggest fish either of us have ever seen came one cold November afternoon on our last hurrah.
This year I don’t know if it’s going to happen, I am taking the final steps to buy a new house today. Which means sign goes up in our yard today and we will hopefully soon be moving. I told my wife that after spending all last weekend fishing I would hang it up for the year and store the boat. So it wasn’t a distraction. Of course I am still silently hoping to get out with John or Jason at least once more this year. Well see.
Don’t give up till the lakes are hard or Dec 1st which ever comes first. And don’t let anybody tell you all the lakes are frozen, Trout Lake takes a long time to freeze and she just happens to have some big pigs swimming around. And don’t forget, though we haven’t had to do it in 5 year, you can always drive south. You don’t have to deal with the idiots present all summer on the Madison Chain in November, a little to cold for the jet skies, sail boats and cigarette boats.

Location: Lake Vermilion Tower, MN | Hi All,
My boat is still in the water over at the marina. (I pulled the dock last weekend).
We just had 6 inches of snow last night, with another 2 on the way.
My boat will need to be shoveled out this afternoon.
I just hate to pull it before I have to and miss a day of fishing.
I'll be guiding until ice up, with the hopes of bagging a fall giant. |
