Worth fishing? Not worth fishing?

Looking for info on this lake over by Spooner. Not when and where the muskies are, but what the lake is like, typical boat pressure, water clarity, weed types, etc......

If you want, e-mail me at: [email protected]

Thanks,

Mike Hulbert

Tough lake. Bowel type structure. Not alot of edges to help locate fish. Clear water. Walleye forage. Supposably has sandgrass patches in the south shallow bay but could not prove it by me. There are some pencil reed patches in that area but water is so clear question whether they would ever hold fish except in spring. Skinny, very skinny, deep weedline on northern perimeter of basin but again, not much to it. Spearing has impacted large fish population heavily. Trolling is allowed. I have fished there but would not choose to fish it again, particularly with limited time to fish. Tough lake, and a dull one too.

Ditto what was said pretty much except there are exceptional mini-beds thru out south end. Native Americans did a number on this lake many years ago when they hauled out I forget how many 45"+s in a few seasons. Great
largemouth lake and heavy northerns man. There are a few biggies left though but goodluck. Nice crappies and nice gills. We don't even fish it during season as she takes an awfully long time to locate and or catch one.
The population just isn't there anymore...shame as the fish have above
average growth rates. North (side) has a lot of cribs but most of our fish are caught on the south (side). Try her on a sh*tty day with clouds and good wind and don't be afraid of fishing right up in the reeds on those days. The DNR will not make this lake what it used to be...because the same thing(spearing) will happen again so why waste their time and that is the attitude. Sucks I used to love this lake, hardly any pressure, clean and clear,my first WI 40" northern and some encounters with some truly awesome fish but the man hours we put in...ouch! Go have a try on her. I wouldn't call her boring to fish just difficult and repetitive.

Ditto, FSF and JT. Damn shame we used to scuba dive it and fish it...but that was yesterday and yesterday's gone... Spearing has hurt more than this one...darn right depressing if you let it get to you. Like JT said, if you in the area give it a try but I'm not sure I would travel just to fish this lake...

It has been a long time, but I second the posts here. Can be a difficult lake anyway, and it isn't at the top of it's game.
