I'm heading home to Rochester NY for X-mas. Any slim chance that any of these 3 areas are still open season or open water at that time??

just a thought...I can't believe we only got 35 days left in Wis!!

You better get there early as the season closes on December 15th.

NY waters close November 30th and Ontario waters close December 15th.If your positioned SW ahead of Strawberry Island on the Niagara River on December 1st you will need a GPS to make sure your in Canadian waters. The line goes as close as 12 feet to Squaw Island under the International Railroad Bridge, goes over toward Strawberry Island and then is close to the shoreline of Grand Island all the way down the West River. The Border Line was done way back ,who knows when,by tossing in a wood barrow and where it floated that became the U.S./Canadian Border Line.So you can't cast the Grand Island shore line in December, that will be closed.Up in Lake Erie above the Peace Bridge, all the reefs on your left, the crib(Dummy Light House),RoundHouse()Water Intake for Buffalo) are all in U.S. waters. The Canadian Line does move East some at Waverly Shoal.Maybe next year NY will go to the same closeing date of December 15th for the Niagara River. The Buffalo Harbor should stay closed for the month of December, that is the way I feel and so do most that fish here.Natural Reproduction Fishery has to have some season dates to protect the fish from over harvest. But again we are talking Buffalo,NY here, you could end up snowed in stuck with your boat on a freeway for two or three days or unable to get your boat out of the water due to three feet of snow on the ramp from a fast moving Lake Effect Snow Band, snowing so hard you will need GPS to get back to the dock.
