Location: Ludington, MI | I got a kick out of Joe Bucher's little webisode on throwing back with a JB Rattler. It made me go upsize the hooks on one of my 4-inch Ratt-L-Traps.
I did a search here and found in 2001 most people were throwing back a slow topwater when they missed on a fast topwater. Also some dawgs and small spinners.
I had also read in one of the Musky Hunter books that some people liked to throwback with a reaper.
What do you like to throw back in summer and in fall? Do you vary it by water body? |

| My throwback is a Pearson Grinder spinnerbait. I use this because I can vary the depth of the lure and throw back into weeds if necessary. I especially found this effective when using something like a twitch bait or jerkbait that I cant get the musky to commit on. |

Location: Ludington, MI | Interesting. We throw a ton of safety-pin spinners in the UP. Usually two of us if there are three fishing. This is on milfoil lakes, though. I was asking because after several years of three rods, I now have a fourth. It's a lighter 7-6 rod, so I'm trying to use it for throw-back lures in any given conditions. I have a short list in my head of what I'd use in what conditions, but my local lake is so big and sparse that I'll have to wait until up north in September to test theories. |

| It depends on the fish. No reason to change up if they just plain missed. If they never take a shot but they're up pretty close on the bait, I'll either throw something smaller and burn it, or just speed up my presentation. The low and slow ones get something lower and slower, with a pause thrown in, unless I was already fishing lower and slower. |

| Shallow..lots of success throwing a Weagle back to a fish, both immediately after they follow and going back on fish...Deep, raised on deep cranks and dawgs, dropping a Bondy down and jigging has put a few biggies in my boat... knowing where they live is 80% of the game! |

| White Ninja Tubes have done well for pitch back baits. Not too shabby just hanging off of the back, too. Certainly worth a try. |
