Hey Guys, wanted to see if anyone out there has been or knows anything about fishing the Kenai Pennisula in late August. I plan on renting a mini Van and camping down the Peninsula following the fishing. I did learn that the Silvers should be prime that time so if anyone know’s the best rivers to hit with camping close / sleeping in my Van that would be incredibly helpful. I plan on bringing a 8wt fly rod and a few spinning set ups. Any advice on lbs test and tackle/flies would be very helpful a Thank you in advance on any suggestions you may have for a rookie fishing Alaska in August.... I also plan on bringing a 5wt fly rod for rainbows cause l’d Imagine there are places to fish for those suckers as well....Tight Lines Guys...

Location: Stone Lk Wi
There is a campground in cooper landing right on the Kenai, its fairly close to the Russian river and sportsmans landing on the kenai. That's is a busy area and lots of brown bear along the Russian river where it runs into the kenai. We also fished silvers in a river near Hope the six mile if I remember correctly. Less people there and the fishing was great but if the fish aren't in or the river level is off it could be tough.
