Heading up soon - what options there besides Pier North. Last time we were up it was like $5 a day, now they said its $14 a day plus $30 to take in and out.

Pier North was sold. Gil's now has a lot more room since they tried to jack the pricing for all the resorts that utilize them. Four bailed on him so far, Grassy Narrows put in a landing on their property next door to accommodate those 4. You could always try the government dock.

Hiya,

Just called up to Hanson Bay Cafe, which is the former Pier North.

Cost is $13.20 per day (boat and trailer), then $15 to launch ($7.50 in and $7.50 out). This does not include the 13% tax. Costs are in Canadian Funds.

Total is $107 CAD with tax included for 6 nights including launch both ways.

In USD, this works out to be just under $81.36 as per today's market.

Put it all together it comes out to be $13.56 per day USD.

Question: Has anyone just launched out of the Government dock and left their vehicle there? Any issues at all with tampering or theft?

Steve

I've done that twice. No issues. Not saying there won't be one though.

I get what you are getting at Brad...it's not a huge amount of money overall and honestly, I like the idea of secured areas when I'm gone for a week.

There is something to say about secured parking vs open to anyone, and it's really not all that more than airport parking...

was a simple question of curiosity...

For others, though....keeping a tight budget is what they need to do and the Gov't Dock option might be something they need to consider.

Saw your baits close to completion Earlier this week... They look really nice!!

.....at the end of the day a few bucks more isn’t a trip killer. But yeah, dropping a 100 bucks for 7 days to launch a boat and park in gravel is a bit silly. Made a few overtures to other places in the area and that’s the going rate now. It is what it is I guess.

After seeing the bids the township where I live recently got on improving the launch on the chain where I live, I have a whole new appreciation for what a boat launch costs. Simple two lane concrete pad, black topped approach of maybe 50 feet, and they wanted over $100,000. There is a launch there now but it is rough and could use both new pad and some serious grade work but the town doesn't have that kind of money and right now there is no charge so no fee income to offset costs. I use a launch near my house that is owned by a bar but they have no parking so it doesn't really help visitors to the lake. The bar has a donation box and are happy to let folks use the launch but they don't have any room for parking, so they can't help people with that.
