Location: Roscoe IL | Spent the week on Little Arbor Vitae for our annual vacation with the fam. It's a mixed bag of fishing for us but target Muskies early mornings and prime time. I got a shorty (30) on a spinnerbait first day and lost another at the net. Smallmouth were active in the mornings but by 10am the switch got flipped and everything shut off. My son had a friend that really never fished before so I spent most of my time working with him on casting and how to untangle loops. I put the rod down and just put the boat in the best spots with the handheld in the drivers seat keeping my head down so I didn't get an ear ring I didn't want.
Mid day tubing, a break for lunch and the boy's would want to fish again. Oldest son got a 38 on the Lake X Toad and the younger boy's managed to find 2 muskies each on husky jerks fishing for smallies. They also got 6 Walleye on husky jerks, so now there is no other bait for them. All fish released in fine shape as that's what I teach. We enjoyed a fish fry at the local pub & grub and shopped for crap so Mom would be happy after.
Leave for Canada in a few weeks. The boy's got their practice in and are working on their tackle getting prepared. |

Location: Vilas County, WI | I had some buddies up for the weekend. We bounced around between 5 area lakes from the St Germain and Mani Waters areas. Had two boats on the water and fished from Thursday through Saturday. We had 10 follows, lost 2 and caught 2 smaller fish. The biggest fish we saw was maybe around 40. And the fish that did hit were only nipping, no aggressive strikes.
Talked to a couple other local guys who said the same thing - the smaller fish were showing their face but no big girls and no hot fish.
Still a good time though. One guy in the group never caught a musky and he finally broke the drought. We were all excited for him. |

| Rented a cabin last week in the Conover area and got one solid fish. Clear water fishing just above the thermocline. Caught on a homemade hardhead type lure.
