Between Grindstone Round and Lac Courte Oreilles which do you recommend and why? I’d like to start fishing one or all of these. Not sure where to start.

What's your goal?
LCO is a low-density fishery with some giants.
For action I'd consider Sissibigama.

Steve Genson is an excellent guide with a background in marine biology. I highly-recommend him if he's available.

Contact Steve Genson or Pete Rich they are great guides up in the Hayward area, they can definitely get you going in the right direction. It's been many years but I caught my first musky out of Grindstone 44" tiger.

Maybe I should rephrase this question. I’m an avid Musky fisherman. I’m very familiar with several other lakes in the Hayward area I’ve just never fished the lakes I mentioned. I’m looking to expand into these lakes and was looking for a little insight on them.

Round.

No real good reason.

I have head that the density in LCO is so low lately that its not even worth targeting muskies there.

I have never spent any time out there, but how can LCO have that low of a population of musky? DNR has stocked nearly 16,000 musky fingerlings in there between 2001-2017. I'm not saying you are not correct, I have heard that from other people as well.. I am actually curious though.

If it were me choosing between those 3 lakes, I would also choose Round lake to start on.

LCO is low density, been decimated. several years away from being back to decent, but they are trying. Grindstone has declined lately also, not quite what it was just not too long ago.
Round is on the rebound now having gone thru a big stocking gap yrs ago, but been stocking good past 12 yrs. and also it is further away from the ...... locals. so maybe not so much of that ......-harvesting we all despise.

LCO has basically no natural reproduction due to the cranberry farm dumping phosphorous in Musky Bay essentially choking out any eggs.
