I've been pulling both and have had better action on the jointeds. Have not lost faith in my straights though.

Jointed untill November then it's straight ones. I like the shallow eye jointed up untill we get into the 40s degree water temps, they have a lot of side to side action in the 2 to 10 foot range that attracts strikes. But once the waters get colder I will use the straights on the deep eye at a slower speed and get that tight wobble down 16-20 feet.

I use swim whizzs but the same holds true for them I like to use jointed in warmer water conditions and I always use the deep ring. I just shorten my line to the water depth. one reason I like swim whizzs over believers is that whizzs can get about 1.5 mph faster before blowing out.
