Bought the pistol grip type handle to try. Will not tighten down on a st Croix legend sling blade to hold the cork. You guys build it up with tape or what

Yes, most rods need to be built up with tape

I use the rubber shelf liner material. No gooey tape mess after a year or 2.

Yes, you need to build up some electrical tape under the part you screw down.

I picked up a couple this last year, and really like them so far, especially on my jerkbait rod.

Got it figured out. If anyone was on the fence about getting one buy it. Put one on a tranx 400 slingblade combo makes burning 10s a lot easier
