| I have an old 12' aluminum boat and am looking to replace the wooden pieces on the transom where the motor mounts. I assume there is a synthetic board of some kind that will do a much better job than wood that I should use instead. Is this the case?

Location: NorthCentral WI | Starboard or any other HDPE sheet in the thickness desired. |

Location: Athens, Ohio | Best check the condition of the remainder of the transom, if one area is bad the rest may be too. m |

| There is a product called Coosa board, https://www.boatoutfitters.com/material/plastic-sheet/coosa-board that people are using.
I looked at it when I did my build and didn't go that direction, but if I did it again I certainly would give it a strong look again.

| I have always used ACX plywood and sealed all sides with a good quality spar varnish without ever having a problem.
