That is only if you get caught!

Try and catch a crappie, or big blue gill, etc.. and put a treble through its back.

Double check the state regs before using the Goldies. If you go the route of catching panfish or crappie make sure you catch them on the lake you will use them as bait on. Now if cast netting shad is legal there are some big shad in kinkaid.

Hi SIU,
I am not sure it will even be worth your time trying to get suckers if you are on Kinkaid. I don't mean to be negative but everything I have heard from Chad Cain is that suckers don't do much. I think he even states that on the on-line chat in the archieves. If you do find a huge school of shad, try and catch one of those and then quick strike that thing. It might also be a problem if the fish are in the wood. which I think might be the case. The temps are right for the shad to still be in the wood and weeds.
hope this helps

I will back what kly said. Chad has given using suckers the "old college try" with no luck. if he hasnt had much luck, then it aint worth it. I wouldn't waste time with them down there. Cast the weeds and coves and you should be ok. the shad should be beginning to ball up in the warmer water also. I know alot can change in a few weeks but when we were down there in late Sept, you could see the balls of shad in the bays near the surface. If you can swing it, you should try to get out with Chad. You wont find a better person to learn the lake from.
