I cant find any good suckers here in the Chippewa falls, Eue Claire area. The best ones I can find are at Mooldys and they are 12".

I want some good 14" to 16" ones.

Does Rice Lake or any other town in the area have good meat.

Jason, try Gordy's downtown or Wissota.

TNT on Hwy 40 had some good ones early last year.

Jason-

Rice Lake (hometown) doesn't have any but will sell you 8" and call them musky suckers. We have been making runs to Hook Line and Sinker in
Stone Lake. Mark usually always has hearty,LARGE bait or try Al at Pastika's or Hayward bait and Tackle. Yes it's a drive but for quality bait
it's tough to beat. I wish somebody around Rice would carry larger suckers but nobody wants to deal with it. Bear Paw in Rice will order them for you
but you pre-pay. Goodluck.

Triple A in Spooner has been carrying suckers. Size varies but occasionally they'll have some big ones.

Scheels in Eau Claire had some really big ones last time I was there. Not sure if this is usual or not, but they were nice!

Jason, I was in the Holcombe area on Friday October 10th and the Big Minnow bar and tackle shop on highway 27 had some pretty good suckers. About 14-18 inches and they ran something like three or four bucks each. The other bait shop just down the road towards paradise shore resort had some on Friday also that were in that size range, but his always seem to die on me half way through the day. Don't know if it is just his minnows or me but last year and twice this year his minnows have gone belly up. The ones from Big Minnow lasted all day and never lost any spunk. You can always call and check what they have before driving up the 45 minutes.

Thanks for all the help I got on this thread. When you move to a new area is often hard to find good bait.

I will go check out the "Big Minnow" this week, I know right were it is and that is much closer then driving to Hayward.

Thanks!

Jason, Did you make it up to Big Minnow this week? I will be on holcombe tomorrow and was wondering if they still have good ones there or if I should find an alternate source. Thanks Jason Malone

If it's still there...There is a Taxidermy shop/Bait store (Can't remember the name)in Eau Claire that I used to get them from. Good sized ones and reasonable. Not too far from the pond in town.

Rod,

Your thinking of Burokers on Birch St. Mike no longer carries suckers.

Mouldy's has pretty decent ones and the minnow man comes on Friday so if you get there early you can get first choice.

Wil or Terry will order larger suckers if you want them but they don't stock them, there isn't enough demand for it.

Big Minnow in Holcombe should have suckers....there are allot of "meaters" that fish Holcombe this time of year with single hook rigs and 14-16" suckers in hopes of puting a musky in the freezer.

If your heading up Hwy. 53 Stop at Mouldy's and if you don't like what he has then stop at the Big Minnow in Holcombe.

Good luck...
