I'll be in Chicago (O'hare area, but coming from Indiana) on business friday.  Any recommendations on bait shops with exceptional muskie bait selections in Chicagoland?

Kolar Bait and Tackle in Carol Stream, Illinois has a good selection of muskie tackle. It is probably 30-45 minutes from O'Hare. However, it is small when compared Rollie and Hellens, Thorne Brothers, Reeds or Guides Choice. Depending on what you are looking for, I might call first.

Ed Shirley stores usually have a decent selection, first one you will go by is west of the 159th street exit off 294. Fishing Connection has a good selection also on 159th but further west in Tinley Park. Henry's by Commiskey Park on 31st and Canal has a OK selection. The Ed Shirley 159th locations PH# is 1708-331-5711, address is 3509 W. 159th in Markham. Fishing Connection address is: 7897 W. 159th Tinley Park. PH#: 1-708-532-1476 Fishing Connection is also the only tackle shop to have a 96" Muskie on display. Shirley's has multiple locations so if you don't want to stop there just call them and ask if they have a location near where you are going. If you hit just the two stores on 159th I am sure your tackle craving will be satisfied. http://www.edshirley.com may have more locations listed. Oh yeah, the 96" fish is his sign in front of the store.... Also there is a Galyans near 159th and Lagrange road in Orland Park. Don't know the selection, the address or the phone #, they just opened up earlier this year.
Here is a list of all Shirley locations from their site: Ed Shirley Sports has 5 locations to better serve you:

3509 W. 159th Street Markham IL. 708-331-5711
5404 S. LaGrange Road Countryside IL. 708-352-5712
5802 W. Dempster Morton Grove IL. 847-966-5900
1272 E. Dundee Road Palatine IL. 847-705-8707
691 N. LaGrange Road Frankfort, IL. 815-469-4060
Going down 294 the first one you will go by is in Markham.

Nothing really close to ohare. There are three galyans locations, schaumberb, st. charles and lombard but they scale back the musky stuff for hunting season. There is the new gander mountain in geneva just south of the st. charles galyans and bass pro in gurnee. Dave's bait and tackle in crystal lake if you want a cruise. The salmon shop in palatine has quite a bit of stuff too.

If you are willing to drive all the way to Kolar from the airport you might want to make a second stop and head out to the new Gander Mountain, 100,000sq ft of fun. Randall Road & RT38 in Geneva.

Thanks to all.  Galyans is a good selection because I have a gift card there.  Sounds like I can make this a muskie bait marathon.  My day just got better.

Was in the Lombard Galyan's store the other day. All fishing tackle including MUSKY has been scaled back big time - not that it was that good in season.

Another recommendation which I have only been to once but plan on going back to is in downtown, Geneva, IL on the east side of the river next to the Rte. 38 bridge. Now I am drawing a blank on the name but lots of good stuff. You're also only 5 minutes away from the new Gander Mountain on Randall Road.

Have fun!

I think you are thinking of Riverside Sports on RT25 near the corner of RT64 in Geneva.
