Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Sue and I hit a little lake after crappies tonight. It was 74 degrees when we launched the 1690, and 65 when we loaded up at the sandy unimproved state landing. Temps like this are very rare indeed here in October! We caught 20 crappies 10" or better, filleted them (Tag Team, I fillet the fish, Sue skins the fillet off), saved a meal for later and had fresh crappies and green beans for dinner. The moon rose as the sun was setting across the shore absolutely alive with Maples and Aspen in peak fall color as Mallards and Loons came in from the North. I LOVE the fall! It doesn't get any better than that. |

Location: Chippewa Falls Wisconsin | That is why I moved to the Chippewa falls area. I loved fishing Pewaukee were I had caught more fish indeed. But small lakes that have nothing but trees, loons, ducks, jumping sturgon and very few jet skis is priceless.
There is something about nature that calms the spirt and makes being on the water much more enjoyable. Not to mention the crappies, pike and walleyes taste like candy in the clean water.
Glad you and Sue had a great time. |

Location: Hugo, Mn | I envy you guys up in the north country this time of year. I was out on a T.C. metro lake last night and even that was great. Fishing wasn't that good but it sure was pleasant out.

Location: Germantown & Land O Lakes WI | We had three true albinos running around up by me...a 10pt buck died last spring, but we still have 2 does that "make the rounds" every day through everybody's yards. This one, we named "Whitey", is so used to people you can hand feed her.
If you ever make it up to Boulder Junction, there's a photographer's studio full of pics of albinos....almost all of his pics were taken on or off our road. |

Location: Holly, MI | arrowed a deer last night and going musky fishing in the morning! ahh..thats fall. Now if the days lasted a little longer like in the summer I might be able to get the deer and the musky on the same day!
Beautiful pic of the deer. I too watch them all year around. I love to just be near them (and eat them too). |

Location: Stevens Point, Wi. | Got to agree- it doesn't get much better than this. Took 2 "sick days" and headed to N. Vilas county. Fishing was slow on Tues. with 2 short ones boated, but I had numerous follows from some slob smallmouths, so Weds. I stowed the big gear and pulled out the spinning rod. 22 brown bass in the boat, with the smallest at 14" up to a 21 1/2 pig. What a great way to spend the day.. beautiful scenery, no boat traffic, fantastic fall weather. Those smallies sure have an "attitude" !!! |
