| Steve that "thing" (grass carp/ white amur)was caught here in NE Iowa.

That is honestly the heaviest fish I have ever caught!!!! I strained to pick the ugly thing up and that does not happen to often with a low center of gravity, which I always have.
anywho I had raised up a very nice fish two days before 48-49". So Chad and myself are hitting the spot and move up on the flat. I am working a drop belly and sure enough, slam. I hammer the hooks and something starts stripping drag on my jerkbait rod. So I think it is that muskie, and starting to get really nervous. All of a sudden the fat ass thing porpoises and i realize it is a carp. I so decided to work it in and get some pics.
hilarious day on the water!

P.S. I have been catching everything but muskies lately, I am in a real rut, 20lbs buckets(when full of water) and huge carp. I need some help!!!! |

See now me,I have a low center of gravity and a ton of weight to keep it there. lol Only problem is when I go, I GO. lol Hey give me a call sometime this week so we can get out fishing. Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Did you get a weight for the carp? It looks alot heavier than 40# to me, the thing is BIG. Bet it gave you a good tussle, too. Weird, isn't it? We release Muskies because they are not easy to catch when big, because they taste like crap anyway, and fight well when hooked. Seems like Carp would fit the bill some too, and they do in some countries. Tough fish to consistently catch big specimens, and terrific fighters. I guess there just isn't as much thrill buying a can of corn instead of Slammers. |

Location: Iowa | KLY, very nice! Now I know why you liked that spot so well when we fished it. I didn't realize all the heavy rods, reels, baits, etc. were just a cover up for you to pursue your real dream of a fish. I'll make sure I have some dough balls or corn in the boat next time, you don't have to continue to hide it. Nice fish any way. It's always fun to have a good fight. |

| Hey Jason,
Don't think you would exactly call it eating, but it got a hold of a golden shiner drop belly. That color has worked awesome for me all year on just about everything, now even carp!!

That is a beauty! I have fished (don't tell anyone) for carp on purpose. A river in town has them come in in big numbers in the spring. I love to watch my little boys try to reel them in, it is a riot. |
