| Does anyone have the duramax diesel? If so how do you like it? Any problems? I can get a good deal on a new 2018 Gmc and was thinking about popping on it. Any information would be appreciated. |

Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | I've been running diesel's for about 35 yrs.
They are true work horses for sure,.... but.... The cost of fuel is like .80- $1.00 more per gal. than unleaded.
When I first started driving them, Diesel was around .79 per gal. and gasoline was about .30 more per gal. My how times have changed.
My next truck may be Gas powered.
Duramax is a good motor.

Location: minocqua, wi. | I've been driving Diesels for 20 years. I've never had a chevy but multiple Dodge and Fords. Diesel Trucks are "different" ... same truck 10 years after use as the one you bought (sans cosmetics) if you re-build front ends at mileage, maintain and repair and my experience is that 300k miles are pretty easy before putting in new transmissions and other major catastrophic failures. They are all just built different. Rust and body will be a problem long before motor and drive train ...
To the point above ... the fuel cost advantage became a disadvantage in 2008 and has gotten progressively worse for diesel owners. I may do the same as G-Rome on my next vehicle for that reason. |

Location: SW Ohio | Yes, I have a 2018 Chevy Colorado Duramax. Tow a 3200# alum v-hull with a full windshield and my friend's 19' Targa. Plenty of power to tow, great fuel mileage unloaded and decent mileage when towing. Came from a GMC Sierra 5.3. It doesn't have the HP that the larger diesels have so you can't just jump out and expect to outrun a speeding semi while towing. That being said, I have really enjoyed this truck. |

| what do you tow? Be sure to check the door seals, as the first few years of the new colorado/canyon experienced some leaking in heavy rain or carwashes. I haven't looked at it since.
I know it's not your question, but have you looked at the new ranger? |

As for the Ranger, the diesel model isn't being offered in the US yet. AND, you need to pull one of the front wheels and splash guard just to change the oil. No thanks... |

To change the oil?? Reminds me of the old muscle car days. They would stuff a big V-8 in an engine bay never designed for something that huge. Buddy had a Mach 1 Mustang with a 390. Shop manual said to loosen motor mounts and jack the motor up so that you could change the left rear spark plugs. Most ended up cutting out a section of the fender well, using a modified spark wrench to get them out. |

Yeah I heard about the oil change matter to get to the oil filter.
The door seals was a pretty well-documented issue with the first couple years (I debated a 16 taco and a 16 canyon for an entire winter). I'd assume they've sorted it out by now though. |

They must have. I've not seen any complaints except an occasional one from around the cab brake light seal. |
