50 Inchers aren't all that common in my fishing waters, so I was super surprised to catch and release two within the last 4 days. I had a buddy with me on the first one, so that was a big help as far as getting her into the net. I was by myself on the second one and she slipped out of the net once and nearly caused me to have a heart attack.

Right after catching the first one, my buddy and I located two river fish on my Helix in 12.5 feet of water and I lost one of them on a Bondy Bait. I came home and fixed a third treble hook into the top of the Bondy Bait and went back, located her again with my Helix and got the Bondy to stick that time around, right before I caught the second 50. That is really all I want for Christmas this year (catching those fish). I was really happy to be able to locate fish with my fish finder and then catch those fish. My buddy caught a good fish also and I was able to net one for him.

Just now starting to snow outside here and I guess in a few days my musky season will be winding down for the year. Luckily, it opens back up January 1!!!!

Merry Christmas to everyone!!

AWESOME--- love my Helix--- Not only can I see the Musky but I can most of the time make out his head and tail to see which way he is facing----- Fun to see them and then catch them !!

I'm with you esox911. I love my Helix!! I got myself another one for Christmas, but haven't hooked it up yet. It came with a Navionics chip and I guess that I can switch it back and forth.
Several times, my wife has been in the back of the boat watching the Helix and told me that she had just seen a big musky under the boat. Then, I would throw at the fish and have a follow-in or a hit, but this is the first time that I could say for sure that I caught a specific fish because of it.
I really think that I was more excited to catch that targeted fish jigging a Bondy bait than I was catching the 50 incher. To me, there is just something magical about catching a river musky on a Bondy bait.
I'm not much of a Holiday person and I needed some magic in my Christmas.

Great job! I also salivate at the thought of a KY river musky smashing a bondy.
