I'm just getting started in musky fishing. I bought a package from Abu Garcia without knowing much what to look for. I have the Revo Toro S reel on a Veritas rod ( 7' 9" fast / medium heavy / lure 1 -4 oz. Is that rod worth keeping or should I be switching to something heavier. Is there a useful spot the it? I also have a Cabela's Predator Musky 9' lure 3 1/2 to 10 oz. Should I also be looking for something heavier? Maybe something like the MI Predator 8' 6" super Magnum?

In muskie fishing, the rod is designed to throw the bait and not so much for fighting the fish. If you like how the rods you have cast, they will be fine.

I'd stay with what you've got until you decide how much you like this ridicules presuit. There seems to be a natural progression through baits and rods that's as indivdualized as tailor made suits. You will know what works for your style and budget. Welcome to the "madness" and good luck.

you are probably correct. I tend to over think everything. I just thought maybe the 1 to 4 oz would be too light. Thanks

I use a 3/4oz-4oz rod with small baits you have 2 good rods that you should be able to throw about anything you would need to get started
