| It is awfully boring that they have the same 2/4 lake every single season. There's so many good bodies of water out there to always end up doing the same 2. |

Cave Run in the Spring is Awesome….. What would you replace it with that could even be close to it ? I don't see any Lake that has the space for a big Tourney and the number of fish for that time of year. |

| Looks like the PMTT get's around quite a bit. So many lakes... so little time.
Very impressive they have held a tournament on the same two lakes every year, going on 19 years now. The history for those tournaments is very special.

| Looks like there may have been an error for the number of tournaments held on Eagle River. Only off by 1. Looks like one of the dates are missing.
Dang... would have been awesome to be a part of the PMTT over the last 20 years! Some have been fishing the trail... since the beginning. Amazing.

Green River, Campbellsville, KY would be a good choice. Plenty big enough, lotsa fish but a couple hours further south.
Kentucky and Ohio have no closed season since the lakes are stocked. Otherwise the tournament season would be shortened by a couple months. Gives everyone a chance to fish earlier in the season.
Hit Cave yesterday. Pretty much a muddy mess right now. Up 7' over summer pool. A lot of crap floating or suspended...leaves, sticks, logs, etc. Saw one fish. |

| I guess I don't understand the concern about returning to the same lakes for at least part of the trail. After all, there are 4 majors in professional golf and three move from course to course, but the most prestigious is the Masters and that is played at Augusta every year. The players and fans hold it in awe. Why wouldn't that work for a musky tournament? |

Posts: 2325 Location: Chisholm, MN | Well, I guess you can’t please everybody! Switching it up would be good to spread around the pressure rather than hammering the same lake all the time.
I’m not doing the Mega. Entry fee is too high for me and frankly I’m kind of over tournaments. But to each their own. |

| Benefit of having the same two out of four lakes every year...
- History
In the spring... you would take a huge risk fishing another body of water. The same risk I am thinking about still exists with the Cave... but, a good number of people have spent a lot of time on that body of water... and they have a good number of fish.
Spring weather generally causes drastic changes to most of the reservoirs open to Muskie fishing... and the Cave is a good example of a lake that is very dynamic when it comes to catching fish under a variety of conditions.
So, why hasn't the PMTT sanctioned a tournament on Busse Woods, yet? |

Not bad bodies of water to explore or fish... Give some of the REAl Pros a NEW Challenge. And...….. It's Not the "same boring waters".... (sarcasum) for those of you that take life to/2/two/too serisiously.
I'm more concerned with Tonka and High water temps.
Love Cave, Eagle river is Cool, and a really good time....

| I agree, Jerome.
Will be fun to see the results from the Iowa lakes. It will also give locals who can not travel and take a lot of time off to fish a professional Muskie tournament. Very cool.
I have never fished Tonka... but, have done some research and had a chat with a few people about water temps that time of the year. Based on what has been discussed... water temps are usually around 75-80 that time of the year - with a few exceptions. Hopefully things are good to go when the time comes.
Good luck to everyone fishing the trail.

No it won't.
To qualify for the Championship, those Iowa locals will have to fish at least 2 of the 3 qualifying events in Kentucky, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. (And register at least 1 fish, and place in top 40.)

| There are people who fish the tournaments who do not or can not fish the entire trail...
So, with that being said... this is a GREAT opportunity for some to have a chance to fish the PMTT without having to travel and take time away from important responsibilities.
I have fished PMTT event's in the past... and did not fish the entire trail. It was a great experience and one I appreciate very much. Not everyone fishes tournaments to qualify for something.

Meh. Your earlier comment suggested that it's giving that kind of opportunity to locals near the Iowa Great Lakes. I was just clarifying that it doesn't apply to them at all, since they'd have to travel a fair distance to at least 2 previous trail events in order to qualify to fish in their "local" event.

Point being....some people can fish only one other tourney and can qualify for the championship event AND they are local to the area of the championship.
Winternet is definitely underway...

It's not "potayto-potahtoe" because what you're saying isn't actually true. It's a dumb thing to care much about, so I shouldn't bother, but at the same time people reading what's being said here could get mislead by wrong information.
http://www.promusky.com/rules.html
To qualify to participate in the Championship in Iowa, at a minimum a team has to fish 2 out of the 3 qualifiers (Kentucky, Wisconsin, Minnesota) and catch at least 1 muskie. If there's enough qualified teams, it's limited to the top 40 point earners on the year. If someone wants to fish only a single, local event, it has to be either Cave Run, Eagle River, or Minnetonka.

| I was just bringing up the idea that all of the tournaments are within' a fair distance when it comes to many of the teams that fish the trail. With 3 of the tournaments being relatively close to one another - it could open up a new opportunity for locals.
Iowa is not too far from Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. I believe this is where most of the trail anglers reside.
I apologize for the confusion. I was just trying to stress how I appreciate this schedule and how it can make things easier for some who currently fish the trail... and might increase some interest when it comes to some who have been wanting to fish it. I'm not even fishing it. Just wish a lot of people well and know how much they love the PMTT.

Posts: 333 Location: SE Wisc | It should draw more Iowa anglers, in particular those familiar with the championship water. The three things I consider every year before signing up for the trail...
1. What are my family priorities/ vacation plans/ money
2. Where is qualifier #3( do I know that water?
3. Where is the championship? Do I know that water? |

| Those web pages are still public... and a Mille Lacs Tournament from that far back is nowhere to be found. They seem to have results from the full schedules posted, too.
Let me know if you can find it... or can remember which year it was.
I thought the same thing... until the results were nowhere to be found.
