Looked out at the pool this morning, and there was what looked like cotton wood stuff or bubbles floating all over it. There was very little wind last night, but it was down near freezing, and there is no cotton falling off of trees this late in the year. Can pool water turnover?

I think that depends. If it is a little snoopy pool, it may turn over if the kids are jumping and leaning on it too much:) In bigger pools I think that because they are usually stirred from top to bottom with activity, they probably don't. But I am no expert in pools, just philosophising, and I'm not even to good at that.

It has been almost 4 weeks since someone has been in it, and the heat has been turned off. It's 12 feet deep, inground. I should have taken pictures of it, because the surface was very spooky looking.

Yes it can turnover, but the muskies will become very hard to catch.

Didn't even see one this morning. I'm gonna give it another try around sunset.

Absolutely YES, it can...all water will stratify. Now, if you put a launch on it, you'd have Illinois biggest lake!

Does your pool stratify in the summer? Say in late august do the muskies in your pool onlt get down to a cetain depth? If it has turned over, I would fish the shallow side of the pool. I would also use a sucker under a bobber and for god's sake don't hook the liner!:-)
