Trout Lake, WI

Subject: Trout Lake, WI

I am heading to Vilas County this Thursday to spend some time on Trout Lake fishing for musky during the day and maybe walleye at night.

I've been on this lake once before and realize that it is a tough lake to fish because of size and depth. With the cold front coming through, they are predicting highs around freezing and snow flurries through Sunday.

A few questions:

What can I anticipate the front will do to the action? I've heard that Fall cold fronts actually turn the bite on.

Have you heard what the water temp is? Are cisco ready to spawn?

If they are spawning, what shallow areas can I find them in?

If they aren't spawning, I plan on spending time on the deep breaks along the eastern shore of both the north and south lake. In addition, I'll spend time in the narrows. Any other areas I should try?

I'll be fishing with suckers on quick-set rigs, as well as countdown cranks and jerkbaits. Any other tips?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
