| It is 100% True... First Tournament I have seen in that area--But they Spear Musky up there off the reservation all the time... OH WELL---- For anybody up in Northern Wisconsin who complains about this---think about it the NEXT TIME you go visit their casinos----- YEP--Many of The complainers RUSH to the Casinos to spend their Money--then want to cry about a few Musky being speared....I love that area--and visit it every year.... But I don't support their actions by visiting the reservations.... |

Hilarious ! Thanks for the chuckle.
Seriously, How many fish will be speared.... There is no moving from hole to hole .. It's not like you can cover open water.
I will Smoke the next Muskie that doesn't make it.....
What ?...... You guys never had a Muskie Die on You.
Smoked Muskie on Apple wood should be mighty tasty.... Mmmm, Mmm….. Don't Judge me.... Look up the song by Ray Scott.. "How do you get into those Jeans." Last line.... |

Think a guy could use the same spear they use on 'bago for sturgeon? Have several family members that own those. |

First it was 6 foot, then 7, 8, 9, and up. The real pros use 13 foot spears |

Heard one guy uses a stopwatch and keeps track of throws per fish. |

I have been invited to Spear from a few of my N. MN. Buddys…. But I think you have to be a really big Drinker to partake in such activities.... And it's really not my thing. (Darkhouse spearing) that is.

It's actually a pretty cool thing to at least experience seeing how northern pike come in on a decoy. If you are looking for a good meal, it is definitely a different way to harvest your pike. No different than deer hunting, so to speak...you are out there to harvest.
I've never been on a lake that has huge pike in it consistently, but I don't think I'd take a big pike anyway.... It is a way that can deplete a resource pretty quick if the big fish are removed consistently, but getting a couple of 24" for the pan isn't too bad. Just like any other fishing....being conservative in your harvest is key. The tough thing with spearing, though is knowing what fish will make a slot limit and what fish wont. Can't return a fish to the water, so the estimate better be a good one.

Location: Duluth | Me and buddy were just thinking about cutting a spearing hole, and doing the whole decoy deal just to see what comes in. No spears but a way to scout the size of fish in some lesser fished lakes |
