Howdy,

Does anyone have any experience with the new Garmin LakeVu Canada chip that coves LOTW? Specifically the areas around the Angle?

I know lakemaster is the gold standard, however ,its hard to get information on the Garmin software.

Take care,

How new is it? A buddy of mine had a Garmin and their most recent chip last year and it was horrible on LOTW, in the Angle. He got rid of the Garmin and went to Birds.

Not LOTW, but I used mine up on Winnipeg River near Minaki and it was as good as my Dad's HB unit. My Garmin is 3 years old FWIW.

I would not call Lakemaster the "gold standard" at the NW angle of LOW. I have a Lowrance HDS with Insight Pro on my dash and a Helix with Lakemaster on the built in console below on my new Ranger. Insight Pro is more accurate. I like the large easy to see rock icons on the Insight Pro compared to the very little "x" marks on the Bird with Lakemaster.....maybe because I am getting older and can't see as well......I know in one spot where the Insight shows accurately 5 islands fairly close together and the Lakemaster shows only four?? Many places where the Insight Pro accurately shows a rock and the Lakemaster shows nothing. Was just up there and we were going slow in a bay that we always fish, and with the water being very low, slighty grazed a rock that neither showed. But thats LOW, always try to be careful wherever you are.
