Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | Guys, It's a Three day Tourney... That's 24 hrs. of pounding the water by probably some of the BEST Muskie Fishermen in America. There will be quite a few teams that WILL figure it out.... Always happens... I believe that any fish that is over 30" counts
A local team that fishes it regularly will win it.
3 days... of brutal pounding,...… Vermilion will give in.
I'm guessing 44 fish with the biggest at 53.5 |

| There's an angler earlier this year won a over 100 boat walleye tournament this spring,,then won a big bass tournament after that,,all on vermilion,,,now he's fishing for his favorite fish muskie on vermilion.,,any side bets??? If theres 50 teams true odds would be 49-1,,Ill put up $100 I 'll give 44 to one in a MUST win first place wager. Or adjust to the number of final teams |

| All I know is that it’s breaking my heart not to fish it, like it was all this summer missing the PMTT. But the first of two new knees is next month with the second in December (God Willing). I wish you all good luck out there, and hope to be ready to rejoin you next spring! |

| Kap I should have said take
I pick my guy you get the rest of the field,,, my guys "team" has to win even if they finish second I lose.,,instead of true odds i 'll concede a house edge by five pts depending on number of teams
Example- 77 teams I get 72-1 odds I'm giving up true odds for choosing my team.
Unless there's an official handicapping line on this and "favorite" the odds are against me.

But V can be fickle is September and know it will depend on weather and who can dial the pattern in. But there will be fish caught!! Eye opening or supporting Kirby doom and gloom. To wide open for me!

| Look back to the last big event on LSC. I wouldn’t bet against Berman or Hulbert on a lake they make their living on, but Berman took the purse and Hulbert was back in pack. IMHO, those are two of the best on anybody’s water, and your local heroes actually have terrible odds against them winning. Or, look back at two of my other favorite guys to bet on winning their local water, Grant and Thomas in Kentucky. Sure they won a great and well deserved trophy last year, but I saw them come up with zippedeedoodah many other years when clear thinkers had them the favorite. This ain’t horse racing fellas, it’s not predictable! Gee, look at how good I am, and I never win (ha, ha, ha.) Don’t count your money just yet!! |

| I’d take the over as well , I’d say 27 total fish, winners get 4 ...Fish are being caught pre-fishing... never understood competitors catching 50’s a couple days before tournament, highly unlikely those fish eat again |

Who is to say that fish would eat days later during tournament hours?I caught one friday at cave run in a spot i probably wasnt going to fish, only to catch a different fish Saturday during the tournament. Just go fishing would be my advice. |

Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | I also don't understand why people prefishing want to Catch fish....Pull the bait away from the fish guys... Don't burn your Money.
Explore areas you think the fish may be.... Locate the fish... Go back on said located fish.
Although, I have seen fish caught and 2-3 days later they are caught again usually near the same spots.
Stupid Fish !

If there's 77 teams the true odds are 76-1 that's incorrect???
If it was a pizza eating contest then "yes" you'd adjust the odds if I was in it. |

| I think tournaments are probably the only way to gauge the health of the fishery. I think we know nobody will brag about a hot bite on what they consider their secrete lake. I am interested to hear how things go if anybody cares to post something. |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | About 85 boats at last report. Sorry to disappoint a couple jackwagons but it's a respectable field.
Someone is going to find a couple big fish and win a very respectable amount of money during what should be contest that will test the field's overall talents. Weather looks good for the tourney, bite has been predictably tough.

| Sounds like a really interesting format. A guy would have to have some real confidence to plunk down that kind of entry fee but the payoff is substantial as well. |

| Sadly, those numbers are not surprising if you’ve spent any time on Vermilion this year. Close to perfect weather even. Congrats to the guys who were able to find a fish that would eat—that’s an accomplishment.

| I’m rooting for Seamus Hanly to catch two fifties this morning, I gave him a great tip last night. Now that he’s not hampered by a half-crippled partner I think that quiet Irishman will shine. Naturally, I’ll take credit for the tip and include it in my next article. Sadly, the chances anybody will beat team Lijewsky with that head start is unlikely. He’s clearly Wisconsin’s best tournament angler, and seems primed to open up a can of whopas to the west. Just hope A-rod is healthy enough to do the same. |
