I was out fishing with a buddy on Friday morning when we were casting this weedline.

We were heading to my left so we were fishing off the right side of the boat. Now this partner of mine is not shy and will cast way ahead of the boat and cross lines all day long, it's cool with me as we both are paying close attention.

Now after my cast has landed close to the weed edge and a few cranks of the handle I see a wicked big fish swirl some 15 feet left of where I casted so I stop and look at my pard to see if he stuck her good when he is facing the back of the boat. [] So I say did you see that ******* swirl? [:0] As I start reeling my lure in and feel some weight and a quick hookset as this fish was coming to the boat and even gave us some good air. Now my pard says wow 44 incher and I say hey it's a 47+ come on now, soon we landed this beauty and measured her to a nice 48 X 21. []

Now have you ever seen a fish swirl as she is taking off to get your lure some 15+ feet away? That was way cool and no way that I would ever miss that fish.

Hi Richard: We were fishing a large shallow bay only 2-3 ft deep that had lot's of sunken logs and boulders on the bottom, in this area I like to toss Top Raiders at the logs & Rocks as the fish usually sit tight to this cover on one cast just as the Top Raider hit the water the splash was much larger than it should have been and my line instantly tightened up I set the hook after a short battle I netted and released a 46 incher. The only thing I can think of is that I hit the fish right on the nose with the cast or it saw the bait comming and was waiting for it
[] .

Stranger still you should ask. Just this spring while fishing a shallow bay with a lot of brush my friend had that happen. He cast to a log about twenty feet to the right of some overhanging brush, and as soon as the surface bait hit the water, the brush area just exploded with a large fish leaving the area. Out first thought was; Oh swell we spookedone big. But then a wake plowed through the water to his lure, and the big girl absolutely pile-drived his lure. It was the most hellcious surface hit I have ever seen. I think we both were a bit damper in the crotch for having witnessed it. It ended up being his first fifty inch fish. I wish to this day I could have that one on video tape.
