Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Just received one of the new Abu Beast 40 models, unboxed it and set it up on an Abu Beast Fantasista 7'11" heavy action stick.
The reel seats beautifully on the rod, and is very compact in the hand. It comes with two power handles, a double and a single. I spooled it with 65# braid, and estimate well over a hundred yards on the spool. Retrieve is 5.8:1, and IPT 27". Featuring 8 bearings and a weight of 9.52 ounces, the reel also offers 30# of carbon fiber drag.
I'm on my way to the Spring Bay OutdoorsFIRST Outing on Vermilion, and will report back how the reel behaves. It feels great, is very smooth, and is definitely of the Beast DNA. I'll toss spinnerbaits, twitch baits, topwater, and mid size swimbaits with the outfit.
Pre-release pricing looks to be in the $275 range. Availability looks like September of this year. If you are as much a compact muskie reel fan as I am, you will like this reel.

Location: Western U.P. | X2 on comparison pics. Very interested to see how the 40 compares in size to Revo Toro & NaCl 50/60. Thanks for the update, and looking forward to reading what you have to say about it. |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I added a couple comparison images to a Toro S 50. The spool is similar as you can see, but everything else is more compact. The S is significantly larger. |

Location: Western U.P. | The Revo Toro reel handles for Maxtoro, S, & Beast are 105mm, and I read somewhere the handle length for the 40 is 95mm (same as NaCl's). From the pics posted above, it looks like a square hole in the handle of the 40. If so, the longer newer gen Revo Toro handles might fit this new model. |

It's a bit shorter, and needs to be, as is everything pretty much. Mounting hole is square. |

How about a little early feedback on the 40? |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Sweet reel. Double 8s pop right out of the water easily. Topwater and cranks are easy. Amazing such a compact reel can do so much. Casts really well and spools enough 65# to be fast at the end of the cast. |
