Hey all I am heading to lotw, kenora area mid Sept. Its my 6th annual family trip. We are quite familiar with the waters from kenora to clearwater to the Narrows. Usually targeting walleye, pike. However we got 1 musky and are hooked. So would appreciate a few suggestions
1) water temp is around 60-65 usually, some say they are moving off structure; so should i focus on rocks or beach/weeds or them all in 3-15 ft water?
2) bucktails in 8 to 10's still the go with some shadzillas, shallow raider or better to troll jakes and stuff?
3) any particular sections preferable this time of year ie, main kenora body vs bays to clear water vs narrows bays vs narrow main ch islands?
Any help would be appreciated. Would gladly give feed back and up date once back
( this is my second post of the same however my first didnt show up yet..)

Alot of meat on the bone with that question.... And as the old saying goes there's more than one way to skin a cat!! Not every fish in the system is going to be doing the same thing at the same time, some will be shallow some deep and some in between. Gotta go into the week with a open mind and try to figure out what's happening, alot of factors come into play as far as weather etc.... Try blades, that don't work try jerks that don't work try rubber and so on....and as far as location just keep trying different things until you start locating fish! Use the search function there is a TON of great information that will help you out with your trip.

I agree with what was said, above, in that this is a time of year where the fish are very spread out and there are a lot of potential patterns that all might work...or might not. Start by locating the best shallow structure in the vicinity...find points, saddles, reefs, weeds (can still be good this time of year), sunken boulders, etc...give it a go....try a variety of baits...find a fish or two and then try to replicate on simlar-looking spots. If you aren't finding any fish at all shallow, try workiing the same spots deeper, maybe a 1/2 to a full cast out from how you'd normally fish the spot. Adjust according to your action or lack thereof.

Another important point. Pay attention to your electronics and take note of where you're marking the best baitfish concentrations. Muskies will be likely be nearby.

Good luck!

Couldn't agree with the other 2 anymore. We have 20 years info documented on LOTW and while we don't catch as many as some of the guys while up there, there is truly no rhyme or reason to what is working from one year to the next. I have a boat full of musky lures that I bought after the previous year that worked really well then not much since. I will say just because you catch/see one on rocks, doesn't mean they are all "only" on rocks, keep an open mind and keep patterning them off what you think you know and continue to be ready to change up.
