Just returned from two weeks on Eagle. Some observations:
1. Glad to hear Herbie's laugh out on the water, even if I didn't stay at AML.
2. LOTS of smaller (sub 20" - mid 30") Muskies - far more than I have ever seen. Was this because the spring was delayed, or are there very strong year classes coming up? Big girls are still there. Saw one "super tanker" and quite a few 4'+. Never a day without action (not the Eagle I've grown to know and love).
3. Smaller fish were in the weeds, larger girls were on the rocks. But important to fish both. Largest in my boat (47") came from weeds. Wind was important, but the importance changed. Early in the trip, weeds out of the wind produced best. By the end, rocks in the wind produced best.
4. Hair caught fish. Hair produced follows. Color seemed unimportant. Double 8's, 9's, 10's and an old Eagle Tail all produced. Nothing on cranks or jerks, except a 4'er that followed a Mann's Minus 1 (?!). Top waters had a time, but never got bit. Nothing on rubber, which was a big surprise to me.
5. As usual, more than once got caught up in the spectacular beauty of the north woods. Never grows old. Hope to go back next year.
6. Fished one day with Cal. Great time as always. He knows Eagle and can get me lost! Puts me on fish immediately.

Still a month out before I get up there. Been a long time since I got to do a 2 weeker there though.
